and document, "Directions for Using Your Gin" with handwritten letter in ink dated July 22, 1826 and addressed to E.M. Bayre(?) of Jasper County, Georgia, sent from Clinton, Georgia, boldly signed "Samuel Griswold", 14-1/8 x 8-1/2 in. Loose, toning, foxing, fading, creases, wax seal remnant verso. During the Civil War, Samuel Griswold converted his cotton gin factory into a pistol-making factory and produced the "Griswold & Gunnison" revolver for the Confederacy.
