(Ohio/New Orleans, active 1815-1832), Robert Ransome Billups (died 1836) against a landscape with rolling hills, hunters and dogs chasing a wounded stag, circa 1827, oil on canvas, 30 x 31-1/8 in.; 19th century "lemon gilt" wood shallow cove molding frame. Restretched on old stretcher, lined with wax and linen, retouch throughout affecting 20-25 percent of surface, accretion lower right; frame with abrasions, surface loss, chips.
