Rare Standard Glaze Scenic vase, decorated by Kataro Shirayamadani in 1895. The Master portrayed a scene with a Native American squaw in the foreground and teepees behind her and the plains in the horizon. Impressed with the Rookwood symbol, which indicates the date, and shape 732 B and Shirayamadani's incised cypher. There is fine overall crazing, a pinhead size glaze miss near the base and a few minor scratches. Amazing both for the rarity of this type of decoration and for the skill with which the vignette was accomplished. Height is 10 3/8 inches.
Condition reportFine crazing, few minor scratches
