PLAT MAP

Lake County is located on the high desert of south-central Oregon.  It is also known as the Oregon Outback, a land with ruggedness - where life is tied to the land and values of heritage, where people seek independence but know each other's first names and Community is paramount.

This beautiful parcel is located in Lake County, Oregon. Lake County is a land of stark beauty. It is possible for one to enjoy, all in one day, the broad expanses of desert, sagebrush, and rim rocks as well as the solitude of our mountain forests and crystal clear lakes and streams.

The County is one of the few places in Oregon fortunate enough to be able to boast of its abundant wildlife and majestic views. It is possible to see everything from Wild Horses and Big Horn Sheep to Mule Deer, Elk and everything in between. The Lakes and Streams are loaded with Fish and it has an average of 320 Sunny Days every year to enjoy all of this!

Lake County is the Hang-Gliding Capitol of the West and the Competitions are held every year on Black Cap Mountain which over looks the Town of Lakeview. Lakeview is the Tallest Town in Oregon and is the home of "Ole Perpetual", the only Hot Water Geyser in the entire Pacific Northwest, which spouts a plume of hot water over 60' in the air about every 30 seconds. Warner Mountain Ski Area is only 10 miles Northeast of Lakeview and is the only privately owned Ski-Area in the entire state of Oregon. Because of this, the ticket prices are extremely low. The Ski-Area has 730' vertical slope, a new triple chair lift, snowboarding is allowed and NO lift lines!

History:
Lake County was created from the southern part of Wasco and the eastern part of Jackson Counties and was established on October 24, 1874. Lake County is in south central Oregon and was named because of the many large lakes that are mainly within its borders. The county seat was at Linkville until the voters selected a permanent site at Lakeview, which overlooks Goose Lake.

A fire swept through Lakeview in 1890 which destroyed about 75 businesses; in 1901 the town was rebuilt. The land for the first courthouse was donated by M. W. Bullard and was completed in 1904. In 1954 a new courthouse was built on the site of the former courthouse. Lakeview is known as "The Tallest Town in Oregon" because of its elevation.

The county's main industries include agriculture, livestock, wood products, mining and recreation. Lake County is famous for both its hang gliding and Oregon's only geyser, Old Perpetual.

Other towns in Lake County include Adel, Alkali Lake, Christmas Valley, Fort Rock, New Pine Creek, Paisley, Plush, Silver Lake, Summer Lake, and Valley Falls.
