with John Mitchell's sponsor mark, 1851 date letter and Glasgow city mark (full marks on the coffeepot, partial marks and some rubbing to the other three pieces), (4) piece service including: coffeepot (11.25"), teapot (9.25"), open sugar bowl, and creamer. All with cast and applied hollow handles, shaped rims, and fine hand-engraved decoration. The sugar bowl and creamer both with gold washed interiors. 77 total troy ozs. Very fine condition.
From the Mead Corporation art collection which was begun in 1955 and actively acquiring works until the early 1980s.
