Nadezhda A. Udaltsova (Russian, 1886-1961) Still Life. Oil on board. Signed. 16 1/4 X 20 1/4 in., frame 2 1/2 X 26 3/4 in. Studied at the K.F. Yuon Arts School (1906) and in various Moscow Studios (1909-1911). In 1912-1913, together with L.Popova, studied and worked in Paris at "La Palette" Academy under the famous cubists: La Focogne, Metsengeur and Segonzaque. In 1913 worked at the Moscow Studio "On top of tower" jointly with V.E. Tatlin, L.S. Popova and other vanguard-painters. Was under the strong influence of K.S. Malevich, having been the member of "Supremus" Association, headed by him. She also was his assistant at the 1-st Free Arts Studios. In 1916-1917 made the sketches for the "Recruitment" Art Artel. Member of Associations and participant of the exhibitions: "Diamonds Jack" (1914), "Tram B" (1915), "0.10" (1915-1916), "Shop" (1916), "Art World" (1921-1922), "Moscow painters" (1925), OMH (1928) and "Thirteen" group (1931). In 1918 was teaching at the Textile Faculty of the VhUTEMAS-VHUTEIN Arts Institute, in 1920-921 was the member of INHUK. The works of end of 1920'th and 1930'th are marked by the influence of A.D. Drevin. The Artist's works are kept in the State Tretiakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and different leading museums in Russia and abroad. (http://www.sovkom.ru)
