New York Federal carved mahogany three part dining table, attributed to the workshop of Duncan Phyfe, ca. 1805, the two ends with canted corners, the top with a reeded edge, each section fitted with a shallow frieze with cockbeaded edge and supported on four cluster column uprights centering a carved pineapple, each upright ring and baluster turned and carved with upright plantain leafage, each base with four outward flaring legs carved with acanthus leafage and reeding, terminating in reeded brass cuffs, the ends with a central medallion of acanthus leafage, 28 3/4'' h., 126 1/2'' l.
Condition reportRepaired breaks to two legs of one end section at base. Top of center section has been reset. Center section appears to be an early 20th c. reproduction made to match period ends.
