Paris: Roberti Estienne, 1549. 2 volumes in one, 16mo (118 x 74 mm). 362ff. Woodcut basilisk device to title, woodcut printer's device to last leaf, chapter headpieces throughout, numerous five-line engraved initials. Contemporary vellum, ms. title to spine. Condition: margins shaved with some loss at f.359, small restoration to title page, occasional light dampstains mainly to margins but creeping into text; extremities rubbed, slightly bowed. Provenance: early inscriptions to flyleaf and title-page, partly effaced, legible is a later 'J.J. Meier, 1714'; scattered marginal notations and underlines. The second edition of Estienne's Greek New Testament, commonly called the 'O mirificam' from the opening words of the Preface. [With:] ERASMUS, Desiderius (c.1466-1536). Novum Testamentum... [in Greek]. Basel: Froben, 1545. Small 4to (196 x 153 mm).Title printed in red and black, printer's devices to first and last leaves, fine woodcut initials throughout, some with historiation. Contemporary mottled vellum over paper boards, edges speckled red. Condition: dampstaining mainly to upper fore-edge, leaves minimally curled at corners; covers lightly soiled, rubbed, front cover detached. Provenance: "Joan Lind. Anno. 1572. 22 July" (inscription to title page). (2)
