Extra-illustrated with 52 mounted albumen prints interleaved in text, mostly full-page, of women and couples, a particular emphasis on "the dildoe" and often titled in red ink under the photos. Late 19th-century tree calf, gilt, red morocco gilt lettering piece. Condition: minor spotting to a few prints only, minor rubbing to extremities. Provenance: penciled note from Harry Walton identifying this as "from HS Asheby" collection referring of course to HS ASHBEE, who is represented in the collection. The same hand that titles the photographs ("The second maidenhead," A little flagellation") has underlined select passages neatly in red.
