U.S. Militia waist belt plate. Die stamped brass – with a high relief five-pointed star on a lined field center panel, with a surrounding laurel leaf "chain" and 12 stars. Aged patina. Reverse: tongue and brace with a "catch". Circa 1850. Kerksis Figure 227. Usually attributed to Militia units of Maine or Texas.
