C. 1890, Rare Plateau Horned Headdress

Ermine decorated leather skull cap, variant of the Plains war bonnet. Headdress with front brow beaded panel in white, blue, greasy yellow, and other colors in geometric pattern, split buffalo horn with hawk bells, died horse hair, bead decoration, quill work, tin cones, ribbon streamers and trade blanket stroud drop with brass tack decoration, sinew sewn. Overall length including ermine ribbon drops is approximately 30" L. Very fine condition consistent with age and use.
