1899 Large German Stoneware Beer Stein

Very large at 21" L. Stein has impressed mark of person and lion with two shields between them and a crown above the shields. Also impressed with 1188. Scene is of a beer keg exploding while the workers are falling off it. "Gerste u. Hopfen gibt Wundertropfen" in center of beer keg. Lid is pewter with lion head designs, and a bird head finial and says, "Die Canstatter Der Harmonie Zum Golonen Jubilaeum" and is etched with 1899. Craquelure in the glaze throughout and handle has been restored.
