Giorgia Fraia, Early 20th C., Italian. Now known as the "Rockwell of Italy". The Happy Cleric is one of his most popular subjects with variances in the colors of the umbrella; this one is green with red border. Painting measures 36" H x 24" W; signed in LL. W. F. Burger Co. Inc. label en verso as well as label that reads: "Fraia: He was born in 1902. He studied in the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples where he graduated with the highest marks. In 1925 he was awarded the Prize of Paris. In 1927 he earned the Monteforte Prize. Also in 1927 he participated with success at the International Show of Industrial Artistic Art in Paris. He participated in various exhibits in Italy and abroad. Being a painter of ample possibilities, he succeeds when he paints landscapes as well as figures or seascapes." Craquelure throughout consistent with age.
