Located approximately 25 miles south of Hilo and just 3 miles from Pahoa on the big Island of Hawaii is the Nanwale Estates. Many roads in this area are a combination of grass and gravel. Although they are not publicly maintained they are still very accessible and can be traveled by any type vehicle, four-wheel drive is not necessary. This is a quiet subdivision and the residents are very private, their homes surrounded by thick, lush tropical gardens. Those residing further back in the subdivision tend to prefer the privacy and seclusion the overgrown foliage offers. Within the Nanawale Estates subdivision are a small community center, park, swimming pool a well-maintained baseball field and various denomination churches. Water supply is virtually rain catchment. Meaning run off of rain from rooftops into tanks. This water is then filtered and pumped into the domestic water system. As you drive through Nanawale you'll occasionally see children at play, couples out for a stroll or pets roaming freely. This is truly an island paradise!
