One of the best of Kansas City's early artisits, George Van Millett studied in Munich and in Paris and possibly in Holland. While in his 70s he served briefly as a curator at the Nelson Atkins Museum (the museum opened in 1933). His works include landscapes, interiors, portraits and some early Kansas City scenes. This portrait is thought to be of his daughter but is unidentified. 12 x 9 in the original 15 x 12 inch frame.
