Theodore Rousseau (1812-1867) oil painting on artist's board. Landscape with figures, signed lower left. Along with Corot and Millet, Rousseau was one of the leading members of the French Barbizon school of plein aire painters. The board measures 9 1/4" x 11 1/4". Weight: 2.5 lbs. Condition: Excellent, having been recently cleaned. Antique gilded frame. ( Updated 7/16/09 12:00 pm EST). The painting has been 'black-lighted' and shows no evidence of inpainting.
