Sumptuous Viennese Gilt-Brass- and Enamel Plaque-Mounted Ebonized Fruitwood Jewel Casket-on-Stand, fourth quarter 19th century, the upper portion modeled as a cabinet with a watch-holder cupola, the watch with fusee movement with verge escapement, key-wind and key-set, the doors opening to reveal a trio of small jewel drawers, the numerous plaques of varying form, all featuring mythological subjects as "The Rape of Europa", "Venus Awaiting Mars", "Psyche Disciplining a Centaur", "Eros Unveiled", etc., the whole supported on an oblong matching platform stand also fitted with mythological plaques and having a transverse shallow drawer, 11-1/2", w. 12-1/2", d. 9-3/4".
