57 vol. in 38 (comprising First Series vol.I-LIII, Index to First Series and New Series vol.I-IV), 3,125 hand-coloured engraved plates, many folding, some mostly light foxing, occasional offsetting with folding plates, Index vol. with extended typescript index mounted on blank ff., patterned gilt endpapers, with bookplate of Edward Milner on front pastedowns, uniformly bound in red-brown cloth, gilt lettering on spine, some minor rubbing, wear to one joint, [Nissen 2350; Henrey 473; Pritzel 2007], 8vo, 1793-1830.

***Edward Milner (1819-1884), gardener; apprentice & assistant to Joseph Paxton on various projects including Prince's Park in Liverpool, Crystal Palace in Sydenham and People's Park, Halifax. Subsequently an independent landscape gardener, his work was the basis for his son Henry Ernest's popular book The Art and Practice of Landscape Gardening, 1890. .
