Rare American Renaissance Revival Extra Grade Wooton Patent Secretary, Indianapolis, Indiana, third quarter 19th century, constructed of walnut, burl walnut and figured maple, the case with an elaborate gallery above two large swinging banks, each fitted with cubbyholes and compartments, the center section with a drop-front desk with drawers and cubbyholes, retaining its original gallery, lock and key along with the retailer's label of T. G. Sellew, 111 Fulton St., New York, h. 79", w. 45-1/2", d. 32-1/2".
Condition reportRare American Renaissance Revival Extra Grade Wooton Patent Secretary: In excellent overall condition. Light wear to the surface and finish. The back side is dry and lightly crazed. A 6" section of burled veneer is worn through along the left curved edge of the left bank. Retains its original gallery and all of the interior bank drawers. Light scuffs and dings around the base from use. The interior retains a fine glowing finish. Some of the cardboard interior drawers are lacking their ring pulls.
