Original Watercolor Drawing for front of dustjacket for a large Rand McNally edition of **Night Before Christmas.** Depicts Santa Claus with a sack of toys on his back, shaking hands/paws with Corgi as the two stand on a hearth, warming fire and hanging stockings behind. Beautiful play of light and shadows gives this picture a true Christmas Eve atmosphere. Red and green Florentine design serves as the border. Image 6 1/4 x 6 1/4, adhered on the blank verso with masking tape to a 13 3/8 x 10 inch sheet of white paper with the Florentine border, and light brown frame surrounding the image. Slight wear at corners and ends of the sheet, with faint marks from tape removal at the bottom of the lower margin, tape remnant. The border and the image unaffected and in fine condition. Unsigned.
