Dr. Seuss. The Cat In The Hat.
Description
Dr. Seuss. The Cat In The Hat. (NY): Random House, (1957). 8vo. Pictorial glazed boards; corners and spine ends lightly worn. Dj moderately edge worn, few short tears and creases, slightly chipped at corners and spine ends, with the words "For Beginning Readers" in black letters enclosed within a red circle on the front cover to the right of the Cat in the Hat. Beginner Books began in 1958, with The Cat In The Hat being #1 in the series. **This dj has no printed price!** It is an intriguing variant, probably one of the earliest "transitional" copies printed just after the decision to continue the series was made but before the question of price was resolved, since all the early copies with glazed boards have the new 195/195 price, reduced from the original 200/200 price. Cf: Younger & Hirsch 7.
