Pepsi was the sponsor of the Jackson’s 1984 “Victory” t5our. During rehearsals for the tour, certain persons, mostly Jackson band and crew members, plus some Pepsi personnel were given Pepsi/Jackson black tour jackets. Mark Patrick was a runner and aide during these rehearsals and inherited one of the jackets early on. So early, that his jacket was the original design before adornments were added to some jackets as local and regional promotions for the sponsor’s and band’s needs. At some point during his pre-tour work, Mark did a favor for one of the Jackson Brother’s wives. There was a House of Pancakes restaurant next to the Shrine Auditorium, where the rehearsals took place and the Jackson wife asked Mark to get her waffles, as the catering at the Shrine was not to her liking. When he returned with the food, Mark asked her if she could get him an autographed photo of the Jacksons. She said, “yes”, but he would have to wait awhile. Meanwhile, they had run out of Pepsi jackets and Mark became very protective of his. The next day the Jackson brothers were doing a photo shoot at rehearsal. Mark was at the Shrine, but not involved in the shoot. The Jackson wife told Mark there were no photos yet and to give her his jacket and the brothers, who were only a few feet away, would sign it. Mark told her he’d rather not, pr4obably thinking he would not get the jacket back; so the wife pulled him over to the Jacksons and had them sign it while it was still on his back. Also included in this lot is Mark Patrick’s working pass for the rehearsal. With a prop can of Pepsi used by Michael in te Pepsi Commercial and signed by all the brothers and a notarised letter of authenticity from the owner.
