BRAMWELL-SMITH / BUCKMAN PADDLEWHEELER

Sign In to see what this sold for

1872, While there seems to be some contention regarding the manufacturer of this 19th century steam powered toy, there is no doubt as to its rarity. The May 7, 1872 patent date is stenciled on the aft deck. The alcohol fired boiler along with the paddle wheels are easily removable for maintenance by simply turning one lever. Fuel is stored in a double section of the hull. The boat is accompanied by the remnants of its original box containing a partial label. (see p.48 "Toy Boat Miller & Forbes) Collectors of American toys are not often given the opportunity to acquire such an outstanding example from this era. 10 1/2" l.
