Noting in his preface during seven years of residence "convincedme that some plan of instruction for the negroes, was not only expedient, but a matter of imperious necessity". This novel made an important contribution anti-slavery movement promoted by the plantation revolts which followed the abolition of the Atlantic slave trade..
