APPOINTMENT OF ROYAL LEGAL COUNSEL

324. FERDINAND V & ISABELLA I King of Aragon (1452-1516) and various other principalities until his death together with his wife Isabella I of Castile and León, one of the most powerful women of her day. Together, their rule marked the beginning of the modern Spanish state. They are noted for their patronage of Christopher Columbus' voyages to the New World. DS "Yo el Rey" [I the King] and "Yo la Reyna" [I the Queen], 1p, 8½"x9", Dec 28, 1480 [?]. Appointment of Rodrigo de Verdesoto as Procurador of the Royal Court [a legal counsel] and summoning him to take his oath of office. Each has boldly signed. Intersecting folds very lightly transversing signatures vertically; small edge chips and tears with small border paper loss of no affect; three binding punctures at left edge; light general toning; minor marginal scattered foxing; else in near Fine condition with strong manuscript text and nice signature areas. Very desirable. Accompanied by two very nice engravings of the Royals, perfect display additions. LOA RR Auction/JSA Est: $8500-12000
