Martin Brothers Stoneware "Wally-bird" Tobacco Jar and Cover, both cover and base dated March, 1888, enamel decorated, the inquisitive bird with head tilted to the left and with wings put back, all in tones of brown, blue, and green, on an ebonized circular base, overall ht. 14 1/8 in.
Condition reportCondition: Slight and shallow 1/4" chip to back of head and a slight 1/8" chip along collar line of cover. Slight glaze roughness along top rim of base. Blacklighting reveals no flaws; minor rubbing to enamel along the top of the neckrim.
