Rookwood pair Large Owl bookends, #2656, brown mat

Pair of 6 1/2 inch Large Owl bookends, a William McDonald design, cast in 1924 and covered with a mat brown glaze. Impressed with the Rookwood symbol, the date, shape 2656 and the designer's mold monogram. No crazing. One has been Xd due to minor glaze losses at the corners with, perhaps, some subsequent wear. Much harder to find than the smaller owls (2655) and with much better detail.
