Pair of Hippopotamus bookends, designed by Arthur Conant, cast in 1933 and covered with the Ivory Mat glaze. Impressed with the Rookwood symbol, the date and shape 6384. Each bears the "giveaway" mark due to firing cracks. The cracks are darker on one of the massive fellows. Pretty difficult to find, these guys are appealing despite the firing issues. Size is 4 inches by 6 1/4 inches.
