Early unmarked Rookwood Dull Finish vase with a three dimensional modeled putti hanging from the side, holding a garland of flowers. Done in red clay, the vase was first thrown and then attached to the putti. This vase was said to have been part of a grouping of Rookwood and early Cincinnati pottery deaccessioned from the Cincinnati Art Museum in the last 20 years or so. I am very cautious about attributing unsigned pieces to Rookwood but the quality of the vase and manner in which it is built makes me very comfortable in the attribution. Height 5 inches. Uncrazed and in excellent original condition.
Condition reportUncrazed and unmarked
