Rookwood Aerial Blue cruet, sheep, McDonald, 5.25

Rare Aerial Blue 5 1/4 inch cruet, decorated by William McDonald in 1894 with a misty landscape showing a flock of sheep heading home from pasture. Impressed with the Rookwood symbol, which indicates the date and the number 264 bracketed by crescent moons, and the incised mark of artist William McDonald and also marked with Cincinnati Art Museum acquisition numbers in red paint. There is overall crazing and professional restoration to a small chip at the spout. A rare glaze line that was, unfortunately, made for only a short time.
