lyre back, vine and leaf carved seat frame and tapered legs, green painted ground with parcel gilt highlights, French, late 18th century, 38-3/4 x 19-1/4 x 16 in. Breaks and repairs to rear stiles and splat, rear legs repainted and probably replaced, other extensive paint and gilding restorations, surface losses, slip seat replaced. Provenance: Estate of the Late Andrew Rowan Summers, Abingdon, Virginia.
