corner console, top set with a fine oil painting of a classical scene with ladies dancing and playing instruments, signed "E.C.S 1791", on carved and gilt wood frame with leaf-carved and reeded tapered legs, Italian or French, late 18th century, 34-3/4 x 31-1/2 x 20-1/2 in. Probably reconfigured or altered, surface regilt with losses and paint retouch, repairs and losses to carved elements, frame set with later screws, classical painting with three periods of restoration, 25 percent retouch (primarily in sky and some figures).
