hand-painted oval reserve with colonial figures in garden settings on pink ground, gilt highlights, handles with grapes and vines, bases with shells and scrolls, probably German, late 19th/early 20th century, 26-1/2 in. Traces of old gilt finish, several ormolu elements slightly loose, porcelain with no restorations or damage found. Provenance: Descended in the families of the Late Colonel John Kerr Connally and Alice Thomas Coleman Connelly of Fernihurst, Asheville, North Carolina.
