The Wounded Hound, bears signature "J. Melin", manner of Joseph Urbain Melin, French, 1811-1886, oil on canvas, 28-7/8 x 23-1/2 in.; early 20th century carved and gilt wood frame. Lined with fiberglass fabric, crackle, flaking, abrasions, accretion with lifting of varnish and some paint loss along drip line at right and left vertically; frame with abrasions. Provenance: Offered at Christie's East, New York, February 14, 1995, lot 11, as work by Joseph Melin (labels verso).
