(Frederick William Billing, California/Utah, 1835-1914), "Riding Camels", figures racing camels across a desert, conjoined monogram lower right "FWB. 82", oil on paper, 7 x 9-7/8 in.; modern gilt wood frame. Laid on card with some bubbling, surface abrasion in sky; frame with abrasions. Provenance: R.H. Love Galleries, Chicago; Donated to Huntsville Museum of Art, May 2, 1997, for a benefit auction (label verso);Estate of the Late Dr. John Rison Jones, Jr., Huntsville, Alabama. All proceeds to benefit the Art Acquisition Fund, Huntsville Museum of Art.
