17th century oak joined chest,

frame-and-panel construction, hinged top with open interior fitted with candle box, three-panel front with line-and-dot punch decoration, paneled back and sides, stile feet, in old surface, British or American, late 17th century, 25 x 43-1/4 x 18 in. Generally good condition, bottom board with some later braces, hinges on top somewhat loose, chip and loss to one side of top, lock replaced, wear and flaws consistent with age and use. Provenance: Estate of the Late William and Priscilla Carlebach, Mystic, Connecticut and Bedford, New York.
