figured mahogany throughout, hinged lid with open interior over two dovetailed drawers with oak linings, large probably original brass carrying handles, later mask and leaf carved frame with ball-and-claw feet, 18th century in part, 37-1/8 x 52 x 27 in. Frame a later replacement, brass drawer pulls replaced, minor losses to carved feet, other scattered repairs and restorations. Provenance: Estate of the Late Dr. John Rison Jones, Jr., Huntsville, Alabama. All proceeds to benefit the Art Acquisition Fund, Huntsville Museum of Art.
