(Marie-Edouard Adam, French, 1847-1929), the American steamer "West Wood" off the port of Le Havre, signed lower right "Ed. Adam 1920", oil on canvas, 13-1/8 x 21-5/8 in.; original early 20th century gilt wood and composition frame. Lined with wax and linen, retouch at points in clouds, sky, water and in hull of ship, crackle; frame with abrasions, loss to composition. Provenance: Private Collection, Brevard, North Carolina.
