armchairs: similar designs with spindle backs, shaped mahogany arms, poplar plank seats, faux bamboo turned legs and stretchers, Philadelphia, late 18th century, 37-1/2 x 25 x 18 in. Multiple paint histories, black over earlier red, one with break and small metal brace in arched back, one arm support reglued, normal cracks and wear to plank seats, other possible restorations obscured by paint. Provenance: Property of a Descendant of Anthony Morris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
