strands of hair enclosed in a gold brooch testing 14 kt., handwritten notes by Bettie G. Webb state it was "given to her by Mr. Hamilton, to whom it was left by his mother, to whom it was sent by Lady Washington", additional notes indicate it passed from Mrs. Washington to Mrs. Alexander Hamilton, to Col. J.A. Hamilton, to Miss B.G. Webb, to Dr. J.C. Morris, includes envelope and paper packet with Miss Webb's notes, 1-1/8 x 1-1/2 in. Brooch with minor scratches, pin probably a replacement, gold discolored on back, paper in poor condition with toning, fading, numerous folds and tears. Provenance: Property of a Descendant of Anthony Morris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
