partially-printed, bearing imprint at top "Philadelphia: Printed by John Dunlap" (1747-1812, original printer of the Declaration of Independence), bond of William Brown to Mary Harrison, both of Philadelphia, in the sum of 1,200 pounds "Lawful Money of Pensilvania [sic]", dated August 14th, 1773, and signed by William Brown, witnessed by Sarah Bond and William Lewis, on laid paper with wax seals, notes verso track dates that payments were made on the bond, including payments on behalf of Mr. Brown by Levi Hollingsworth (1729-1834), two pages, 13-1/8 x 8-1/8 in. Toning, fading, foxing, soiling, stains, creases with separations, tears and losses, rodent damage, Brown's signature struck through (probably period). Provenance: Property of a Descendant of Anthony Morris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Levi Hollingsworth was a prominent Philadelphia merchant and a staunch supporter of the American Revolution. He served under General Washington, fought in the battles of Trenton and Princeton, and aided transportation of food to the Continental Army.
