all manuscript documents on vellum, several signatures of prominent Philadelphians: John Morris "of the City of Philadelphia a free black man and Phillis his wife", deeding a 95 x 20 ft. plot of land on 8th Street in Philadelphia to George Smith, a Philadelphia cooper, for the sum of $235, dated August 16th, 1797, signed by John and Phillis Morris, witnessed by R. Whitehead, Jacob Weiss, Jr. (probably the son of Rev. War Col. Jacob Weiss), and Isaac Howell, 13-7/8 x 22-7/8 in., [1 x 1-1/2 in. trimmed loss;] John Donaldson, a Philadelphia merchant, deeding 20,000 acres of land in Virginia to Benjamin Wynkoop, a Philadelphia gentleman, for the sum of 120 pounds, dated June 21st, 1784, signed by John Donaldson, witnessed by Richard Mason, Peter Young, Samuel Wharton (1732-1800, Continental Congress delegate), and Will Adcock, 18 x 16 in.; Benjamin Wynkoop deeding the same 20,000 acres of land in Virginia purchased from John Donaldson to Levi Hollingsworth, a Philadelphia merchant, for the sum of 200 pounds, dated September 6th, 1784, signed by Benjamin Wynkoop, witnessed by Maurice Kennedy, B(?) Morgan, Levi Adams, Will Adcock, and William Rush, 16 x 16-3/8 in., [3/4 in. diameter loss affecting two signatures, loss at left margin;] all with multiple seals and docket information verso. Several illegible signatures, soiling, stains, creases, fading, curling and stiffening. Provenance: Property of a Descendant of Anthony Morris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
