said to be Mr. and Mrs. Hitchcock, she in a black dress, white lace collar and cap, he in a black coat, white cravat, circa 1810, unsigned, oil on canvas, 27-1/8 x 22 in.; matching modern painted frames. Both restretched on old stretchers, lined with wax and linen, crackle, cupping, cleavage, retouch in both primarily in background and clothing affecting approximately 20 percent of each; frame with abrasions. Provenance: Estate of the Late William and Priscilla Carlebach, Mystic, Connecticut and Bedford, New York.
