Salter No. Rose, NY" and "By Anna Mary Robertson Moses", artist's stamp verso "Copyright Grandma Moses Properties, Inc…New York", oil with mica flakes on Masonite, 19-1/8 x 23-1/8 in.; original hand-carved painted and parcel gilt wood frame with label verso for "Herbert E. Frist, New York". Light surface abrasion in sky, craquelure. Provenance: Collection of artist; Leon J. Salter, North Rose, New York (1903-1976); Aaron and Esther Lustig, New York; by gift to consigner's parents, mid 20th century. Reserve: $50,000 Label verso in script for exhibition, possibly a fair, with artist's name, address and $50, and described as a competition piece entered for prize money.
