titled "The Tears of America", sepia printed on linen or cotton, "EB" stitched in blue silk thread proper left bottom corner with paper label attributing the owner as "Great-Grandfather Elisha Brown 1800.", sewn to linen backing, American or English, early 19th century, 20 x 22-1/4 in. (sight); painted composition frame. Foxing, fading, scattered small losses, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Estate of the Late William and Priscilla Carlebach, Mystic, Connecticut and Bedford, New York.
