Rare Virginia Chippendale child's

chair, mahogany with yellow pine period slip seat and commode frame, arched crest and pierced splat, shaped arms and turned arm supports, square legs, later casters, in old surface, attributed to Petersburg, Virginia, circa 1780, 21 x 17 x 12-1/2 in. Excellent condition overall, minor breaks and repairs to one arm at attachment to arm support and rear stile, lets fitted with caster housings, minor cracks in legs at joint with seat frame, old mellow surface, possibly original finish with later varnish overcoat. Provenance: Property of a direct Descendant of Robert Bolling IV. Reserve: $6,000 Recorded by MESDA, research file S-5110.
