Two Agnes Welch oak split baskets:

both gathering type of square-to-round design, both with walnut and yellowroot dyes, one with Holiday Inn of Cherokee tag and base marked "$80", 14-1/2 in., [basket with slight base wear, tag with wear and fading, bottom area with price off but present;] one "vase" with walnut and bloodroot dyes, original Qualla tag marked on back in pencil "Bought August 2, 1990, Special trip to Cherokee, N.C. 60.00", 8-3/4 in. Both in excellent condition. Provenance: Estate of the Late Hal and Frances Hancock, Sanford, North Carolina.
