Artist Info: Rome Matikonyte was born in Egypt and spent most of her childhood in Lithuania. Her paintings depict a solitude and serenity supported by melancholic lines, forms and color, as well as a lack of minute detail. The series "Absence of the Day" is a metaphoric illusion of happiness that conveys the absence of people and shortage of time in our lives. Matikonyte has been painting and sketching for many years. She actively participates in local and regional exhibitions as well as charity events in Canada and Europe.
