Newcomb mat scenic, Irvine, 1912, 16 1/4"

Monumental Newcomb scenic vase carved and painted in 1912 by Sadie Irvine. Pictured are tall palm trees done in mat blues and greens with tan highlights where the buff clay peeks through. Marks include the Newcomb College logo, the date code for 1912 (FK 99), JM for pottery Joseph Meyer, an impressed B in a circle for buff clay and the faint incised monogram of Ms. Irvine. Height 16 1/4 inches. There is a flat chip off the foot which is barely visible and a neat drill hole through the bottom.
