1945-47 Studied at Coventry School of Art
1959-74 Taught at Hornsey College of Art and Byam School of Painting
1972 Appointed visiting tutor Royal College of Art
1973 Elected A.R.A.
1979 Elected R.A.
1981 Elected Fellow of The Royal College of Art
1983 Retired as visiting tutor Royal College of Art
One of the four artists featured in the BBC-TV film A Feeling for Paint
1985-87 Ruskin Master of Drawing at Oxford University
1986 Commissioned by National Portrait Gallery to paint portrait of Sir Dirk Bogarde
1988 Designed Tchaikovsky's opera Yolanta for the Aldeburgh Festival
1990 Commissioned to paint portrait of Lord Sainsbury
